RICHARD MILLE RM 21-01 Airborne Tourbillon Wristwatch
The factory creates a true wristborne aircraft: the RM 21-01 Airborne Tourbillon wristwatch. The case combines ultra-light and durable Carbon TPT carbon fiber with 5N red gold, while the base plate is crafted from Haynes 214 material used in aerospace engine combustion chambers.
The construction of the 5N red gold case is highly complex, with the Carbon TPT carbon fiber bezel and pillars providing structural support, further reinforcing its precision architecture. Carbon TPT carbon fiber, a lightweight and resilient composite material, is created by stacking hundreds of layers of carbon fiber thin sheets using automated processes. Each layer is laid at a 45-degree angle to the previous one, then heated to 120 degrees in a high-pressure autoclave, and finally machined with micron precision. This strengthened structure provides excellent protection akin to armor for the case, firmly secured by 20 spline screws.
The RICHARD MILLE RM 21-01 Airborne Tourbillon wristwatch lives up to its name, resembling a true wristborne aircraft powered by cutting-edge technology, constantly breaking free from traditional material constraints in the watchmaking industry.
