The new RM 27-02 is a sports tourbillon wristwatch designed by RICHARD MILLE specifically for tennis athlete Rafael Nadal. It features an ultra-lightweight case and exceptional stability to withstand the immense acceleration during gameplay moments. This watch has been worn by athletes in various high-impact events, including the men’s 400-meter final at the Rio Olympics, where South African runner Wayde van Niekerk secured the gold medal.

Inspired by racing car chassis, RICHARD MILLE integrates the mainplate and case of the movement into a single unit, significantly enhancing its shock resistance. To achieve a lightweight design, Richard Mille collaborated with North Thin Ply Technology to develop a durable and lightweight material called “quartz TPT” for the case, giving the entire watch a weight comparable to a sheet of paper yet with a rugged Damascus steel-like texture.

The skeletonized structure of the movement is visible through the sapphire crystal, featuring a floating tourbillon at 6 o’clock and Richard Mille’s unique rapid winding barrel at 12 o’clock, providing a power reserve of up to 52 hours with a 20% increase in energy efficiency during initial winding.

The white bezel is secured to the case with 12 grade 5 titanium screws, complemented by an orange strap and red crown. For enhanced readability and identity, the tips of the hour and minute hands are highlighted in bright orange-yellow.
